Life is sweet at the Union Street Café
A Little History...
Photo: Gordon Delaney | It all began in November 2000 as the Appletown Cafe, purchased by sisters Kate Adams and Anna Osburn along with Anna's daughters, Meagan and Jenny Osburn. Kate brought with her 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a unique gift for hosting guests, Meagan had a warm way of healing people with food and wine, Anna was a fine and imaginative cook, and Jenny had a knack for whirling around the tiny kitchen to make everything come together. This hard working family is passionate about food and it shows. It soon became the Union Street Cafe (original location) and quickly grew into one of the most popular dining spots around. By 2003, however, the business outgrew that sweet little spot. |
The girls found a new location on Commercial Street and completely renovated it themselves. Our present location is the former Rice's Restaurant, a friendly family place that holds a lot of memories for the people of Berwick.
In 2006, the owners ended their successful adventure and Jenny became sole proprietor. Anna and Kate are always there for support and advice, while Meagan, after some time away to travel, has returned to work at the cafe.
